Today Fortum won the right from Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd. to build a 250 megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Pavagada solar park in Tumkur district, Karnataka, India. Commissioning of the plant is expected in the third quarter of 2019. The capital expenditure is estimated to be approximately EUR 120 million and the solar park will be entitled to a fixed tariff of 2.85 INR/kWh for 25 years. Fortum already has a 100 MW operating plant in Pavagada solar park.

Tata Power Renewable Energy, India's largest renewable energy company and Tata Power's wholly-owned subsidiary, has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement with GE to provide solar rooftop solutions for six manufacturing and services sites in India. Tata Power will install solar rooftop projects at manufacturing sites located at Durgapur in West Bengal, Pallavaram and Hosur in Tamil Nadu, multi-modal manufacturing site at Pune and upcoming factory at Marhowra in Bihar and maintenance facility at Roza in Uttar Pradesh. The project would be executed on build-own-operate basis.

Nexant, a global provider of technology enabled solutions to the Utility and Energy industries, announced today that it has successfully completed the six-year bilateral Partnership to Advance Clean Energy – Deployment Technical Assistance Program funded by the United States Agency for International Development and the U.S. Department of State. The PACE-D TA Program focused on deploying and scaling up energy efficiency, renewable energy, and cleaner fossil technologies through enabling policy and regulatory frameworks, institutional strengthening, pilot projects, business models, and capacity building of key stakeholders.
